Excerpt
Kim
Good morning!
Pat
Good morning!
Kim
Can I help you?
Pat
Yes. I’m looking for a book about ghosts.
Kim
Well, we’ve got several titles to choose from on that subject. For example… (Kim picks out several possible books to show Pat) Have a look at these: ‘The A to Z of Ghosts’, ‘The Supernatural World’, ‘Ghost-finder’ and ‘Photographing Ghosts’.
Pat
Cool. I’ll think I’ll take them all.
Hints & tips
- This duologue is ideal for Grade 2 exams – but can also be used at other levels.
- Either of the characters Pat and Kim can be male or female.
- You will need several books as props. It doesn’t matter what they are as long as the titles are not too obvious to the audience.
- You might also find a table useful as a shop counter.
- Try to build up the tension through this piece which can then suddenly change with the unexpected twist at the end.
