Nat accidentally bumps into Luc in a long supermarket checkout queue. They are both at senior school but have not seen each other for many years.

Oops sorry!
Luc
That’s okay.
Nat
Oh! Don’t I know you? Were we at Primary school together?
Luc
Were we?
Nat
Yes. Is your name…Luc?
Luc
Yes it is. Ah, I think I remember you now. We were in the same class.
Nat
Yes. Our teacher was Miss Lemon. They were great times weren’t they?

Hints & tips
- This duologue is ideal for Grade 2 exams – but can also be used at other levels.
- Either of the characters Nat and Luc can be male or female.
- You may be able to find two shopping trolleys as props, but if not you can improvise with two chairs pushed along with some items on the seat.
- You can use a table as the checkout.
- Time this piece carefully as you move along the stage bit by bit until you reach the checkout at the right time in the script.
