The present day. Vlad is sitting at a desk in Stormy Castle looking through some papers. Spook approaches the desk and stands.
Excerpt
Vlad
Ah, Good day to you. Let’s see. (Glancing through papers on the desk) You’re Spook? For the position of resident ghost here at Stormy Castle? Is that correct?
Spook
Yes. That’s right.
Vlad
Excellent! Please take a seat.
Spook sits, looking around the room
Vlad
Now, as you know, this is a very ancient castle, and it’s aways been haunted. Unfortunately, for the first time in a thousand years, we no longer have a ghost. That’s why we’ve advertised for a replacement.
Spook
If you don’t mind me asking… What happened to your previous ghost?
Hints & tips
- This duologue is ideal for Grade 1 exams – but can also be used at other levels.
- Either of the characters Vlad and Spook can be male or female.
- You will need a desk and chair either side for the two characters.
- You will also need a few other props such as some papers on the desk and a pen so it looks like a real interview.
- Have some fun making the ghostly noises and spooky movements around the stage.
