Stage directions
Moss and Kit have been friends since Primary School. They are sitting at a table where Moss is reading a book and Kit is playing a game on a phone.
Excerpt
Moss
Did you hear that?
Kit
Hear what?
Moss
The door bell. Someone rang our door bell.
Pause as Moss puts the book down on the table. Kit continues with the game.
Moss
Well, aren’t you going to answer it?
Kit
It’s not my turn. I’m sure I answered the door last time.
Moss
Okay, don’t worry. I’ll get it.
Moss stands and exits. After a short pause, Moss returns carrying a box and places it on the table. Moss then sits and resumes trying to read the book.

Hints & tips
- This duologue is ideal for Grade 3 exams – but can also be used at other levels.
- Either of the characters Kit and Moss can be male or female.
- You will need a table and two chairs.
- For props you will also need a book and a phone.
- You will also need a wrapped up parcel. Inside there needs to be a piece of paper with some text on it.
- Make sure the parcel is easy to open.
