Excerpt

Logan

Hello everyone! (Waving) Guess what? We’re moving to a new town tomorrow. And next week, I’ll be starting my new school. I’m really excited because no one will know me there – so I can reinvent myself into anything I like!

But I can’t decide what sort of person I want to be. Should I be loud and confident, or should I be quiet and shy…?

Hints & tips

  • This monologue is ideal for Initial exams – but can also be used at other levels.
  • The character Logan can be male or female.
  • Act out the scene as if you are talking to a group of friends on a video call.
  • You will need a table on which to place a laptop or a phone on a stand.
  • You will also need a chair to sit on.
  • Put everything on a slight angle so your face is not hidden from the audience.
  • You can use real props such as the glasses and a book – or they can be imaginary.
